Isidingo

Created by Gray Hofmeyr and set on the fictitious Horizon Deep Gold Mine and in various parts of glitzy Johannesburg, Isidingo explores the lives of the people of Horizon Deep and their wealthier counterparts in Johannesburg at ONTV!, a television station. Pivotal to the story are the trials, tribulations, romance and passions of everyday South Africans working at the mine, in the high-flying corporate world of Johannesburg and the glamorous surroundings of a television station.

Isidingo premiered on SABC3 in July 1998 and was hailed as a breakthrough in local television drama. Labeled, as ONE NATION VIEWING, Isidingo very quickly became a favourite with viewers across the spectrum. The drama's average AR climbed steadily from an initial 2,5 and Isidingo is now enjoys one of the highest market shares on the channel. With just over 1700 episodes in the bag (and many more to come), Isidingo continues to be the country's and Africa's top daily drama.

Isidingo is broadcast on weekdays at 18:30 on SABC3.
