The next edition of Survivor South Africa will unfold on an exotic, but far-away and desolate island paradise in the Maldives!
M-Net's Channel Head, Pierre Cloete, says the huge success of the recent Survivor South Africa: Santa Carolina series prompted the M-Net tribe to commission a new season of the series: "While our celebrities were plotting and playing in Mozambique, M-Net was inundated with requests from viewers who wanted to be the next Ultimate Survivor. Now, with the approval and assistance of the government of the Maldives, our castaways will embark on the experience of a lifetime."
After the closed castings of Survivor South Africa: Santa Carolina, the new season is open to everyone. As long as you're in good mental and physical shape, a strong swimmer, older than 21 and possess a valid passport, you're eligible to enter.
But in an exciting twist, prospective Survivors will have to impress the selection panel for the show, in a surprising - yet fair - way. To find out how to enter, be sure to tune in to M-Net at 17:30 on Sunday, 25 July. Details of the entry process will also be posted on the M-Net website - www.mnet.co.za - on Sunday evening.
Charles Povey, Head of Info and Entertainment at Endemol SA, the production company at the helm of the show, reveals that the panel will be looking for a variety of interesting people with strong personalities, who can tackle almost impossible challenges head-on. "Don't be fooled by the beauty of the Maldives. Contestants will be subjected to conditions that will take them to the brink of utter exhaustion and we need contestants who can 'outwit, outlast and ouplay' each other in these harsh circumstances. But we know there are those out there who can do it!"
The winner of the new Survivor will pocket R1 million in cash.
Nico Panagio will again be the man to deliver the challenges, hand out the rewards and douse the flames of those who fall foul of their tribe mates.
M-Net and Endemol SA will announce the recording and screening dates of the new series once the contestants have been chosen.
